CPR Training changes for Washington State Medical Marijuana Consultants

Since the establishment of legal retail marijuana sales in Washington State, all licensed and medically endorsed marijuana retail stores are required to have a certified medical marijuana consultant on staff to work with patients. Part of the state Medical Marijuana Consultant requirements is obtaining certification in CPR. Because this is not covered in the 20-hour Medical Marijuana Consultant training program, it can be taken any time prior to applying for certification.

There have just this month been some rules amendments made that will go into effect on April 12th, 2018. One of these amendments states:

Chapter 246-72 WAC - Medical Marijuana Consultant Certification:

  • clarifies CPR (cardio pulmonary resuscitation) certification requirements to include both written and skills demonstration

Fortunately, all of CPR Seattle’s CPR training programs offer optional written testing. If you are contacting us with a workplace training inquiry, we will make sure this requirement is covered in your training session. We have provided training to many medical marijuana consultants since the CPR requirement has gone into effect and will continue to offer training that meets or exceeds all applicable state requirements.
