BLS Instructor Training

The American Heart Association BLS instructor course certifies the participant to teach the AHA "BLS/CPR for Healthcare Providers & Professional Rescuers" in addition to all the AHA Heartsaver programs including: adult CPR, child CPR, infant CPR, AED use, first aid, pediatric CPR/first aid, and bloodborne pathogens. Students complete an AHA core instructor program at home (program sent to students upon enrollment), and then attend the one-day training at CPR Seattle. Instructor candidates must be evaluated teaching an AHA course before certification is issued.

For more detailed information on prerequisites and required course materials click here. Please note that the cost of the required materials, other than the core course, are not included in the cost of the BLS instructor course. Students are responsible for purchasing materials from CPR Seattle, or from one of the three AHA vendors (Laerdal, Channing Bete, Worldpoint). For information on the time commitment and costs involved with becoming an AHA instructor click here.

Course Prerequisites:

  • Current BLS certification card
  • Current Heartsaver Adult, Child, Infant CPR & First Aid card
  • Core instructor course completion (sent to students upon enrollment)
  • Exemplary CPR and first aid skills. Students will be evaluated on their skills at the beginning of the instructor training. Those who cannot pass a basic skills test will be asked to attend the next instructor training.
  • Ability to pass the BLS & Heartsaver student exams. Candidates will be given the student exams at the beginning of class. Any candidate receiving a score of less than 84% on either test will be asked to attend the next instructor training.
  • Alignment with an AHA Training Center (CPR Seattle is an AHA Training Center).

Cost: $325.00
