Heartsaver CPR/AED & First Aid Instructor

The American Heart Association Heartsaver instructor course certifies the participant to teach the AHA Heartsaver programs including: adult CPR, child CPR, infant CPR, AED use, first aid, pediatric CPR & first aid, and bloodborne pathogens (if you are interested in teaching the AHA BLS program in addition to the Heartsaver programs, please visit our BLS Instructor Training page). Students complete an AHA Core Instructor Program at home (program sent to students upon enrollment), and then attend the one-day training at CPR Seattle. Instructor candidates must be evaluated teaching an AHA CPR and first aid course before certification is issued.

For more detailed information on prerequisites and required course materials click here. Please note that the cost of the required materials, other than the AHA Core Instructor Program, are not included in the cost of the Heartsaver instructor course. Students are responsible for purchasing materials from CPR Seattle, or from one of the three AHA vendors (Laerdal, Channing Bete, Worldpoint). For information on the time commitment and costs involved with becoming an AHA instructor click here.

Course Prerequisites:

  • Current American Heart Association Heartsaver adult, child, infant CPR and first aid certification card.
  • Core Instructor Course completion certificate (online course; access key sent to students upon enrollment - allow 8 hours to complete).
  • Exemplary CPR and first aid skills. Students will be evaluated on their skills at the beginning of the instructor training. Those who cannot pass a basic skills test will be asked to attend the next instructor training.
  • Ability to pass the Heartsaver student exam. Candidates will be given the Heartsaver CPR and first aid student exam at the beginning of class. Any instructor candidate receiving a score of less than 84% on either test will be asked to attend the next instructor training.
  • Alignment with an AHA Training Center (CPR Seattle is a AHA Training Center).

Cost: $295.00

Cancellations & Refunds:
Cancellations received more than 48 hours before class start time will receive a full refund less $10 service fee. Requests received after the stated deadline will not be eligible for a refund or transfer. Students arriving more than 10 minutes late to class will not receive a certification card, or be eligible for refund or transfer. Proficiency in English is required to participate in, and receive a certification card for the class. The presence of a translator does not waive this requirement. Translators are not permitted in class.
